Saw a BMP at 6 a.m. — calcium tanked, potassium spiked — drawn right after a lavender — what quick tell makes you call a recollect?

— what quick tell makes you call a No hemolysis flag but K’s high and Ca’s low on a 6 a.m. BMP drawn after a lavender = EDTA carryover to me, so I call a recollect. If Mg’s added on and low too, that seals it — do you check that?

My take: I’d lean toward the simplest next step and see if it changes anything this week — if not, you’ve got a clear case to escalate. What would block you from trying that?

And on a 6 a.m. BMP that’s high K/low Ca and was “drawn right after a lavender,” I do a quick ALP add-on — EDTA chelates cofactors and ALP comes back oddly low — then I call a recollect. You seeing that ALP dip too, @OP?
