Unicorn requirements, pony budgets

This morning I sat through a “senior” interview where they wanted Salesforce admin, SQL dashboards, light QA, and onboarding — range topped out at $68k. Feels like a napkin sketch of a Swiss Army knife job for butter-knife pay; are you pushing back on scope or just passing?

And > Army knife job for butter-knife pay; are you pushing back on scope — I have them stack-rank outcomes, then send a 90-day plan with hours per area; if it can’t fit 40 hrs, I pitch a split role (contract admin + me) or a higher band, and one usually sticks. Would you try a 3-month contract at a day rate as a middle path?

Piggybacking on @etho258, I have them split ‘core vs bonus’ and price the bonus as a 10–15 hr/wk contract at market rate. If they insist on the whole unicorn at $68k I pass, unless they’ll try a 60‑day, scope‑limited pilot — has that trade ever worked for you?
