I just noticed there are some new tools out there for finding veins that promise to make blood draws a lot easier; have any of you tried the infrared vein finders? I’m curious if they really reduce the number of sticks and improve patient comfort.
I haven’t tried the infrared vein finders yet, but I hear they might be like finding the last fry at the bottom of the bag — much easier than searching around! It’d be great if they really do cut down on sticks; has anyone used them in a busy ER setting?
I’ve been using the infrared vein finders for a few months now, and I definitely find they cut down on the number of sticks, especially in tricky cases. Just make sure to give the device a bit of time to warm up for the best results. Have you seen any of these in action in your workplace, @jaca984?
