Our Thursday Route 14 run is a snowball-in-July problem: 6 hours, two stops with no power, and the van reads 92°F by 2 pm. We’re using an Igloo 52-qt with PCM packs and a data logger, pre-chilled overnight. Anyone stash spare frozen bricks at the midpoint clinic or ride with a small backup cooler to swap at hour three, or is there a smarter “draw the map with shade” trick I’m missing?
, same 6-hour loop here and the van hits 90+ by 2 pm; we fixed it by running a small 12V compressor fridge in the cab at 4°C just to hold two spare PCM bricks, then swap one into the Igloo at hour three. We also wrapped the 52-qt in Reflectix and set it on a foam pad, and your “draw the map with shade” trick — park north side and keep the lid shut — keeps the logger flat. Small caveat: if it’s vaccine, double-check against CDC transport guidance before changing the routine: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/admin/storage/toolkit/index.html.
