Exploring New Techniques in Blood Draws

I’ve been looking into some recent studies on different blood draw techniques to improve patient comfort and minimize complications. It reminds me of when I took a workshop on pediatric phlebotomy, where we learned to use smaller needles and different positioning strategies. Has anyone else come across any effective methods or resources on this topic recently?

It’s interesting how much a little change can improve comfort, kind of like switching to a softer pillow can lead to a better night’s sleep. I recently read about using topical anesthetics to ease the pain before a draw; it seems to make a big difference for some patients. Have you tried it in your practice?

But i’ve found that using a 23-gauge butterfly needle really helps with comfort for pediatric patients. Have you considered trying that? :drop_of_blood:.
