I had a patient the other day who was really anxious about getting blood drawn. It reminded me of when I was volunteering at a clinic and saw a similar reaction. I’d love to hear how others handle those situations — any tips to calm nerves during the process?
When I had a nervous patient recently, I found that talking to them about something unrelated really helped… Maybe ask them about their interests or favorite shows while preparing for the draw. It can take their mind off the process.
I totally get that! It might help to explain what’s going to happen step-by-step as you prepare. Just having them know what to expect can ease some anxiety.
