Have any of you had success with special tools for finding veins? I’ve recently been using an infrared vein finder and it has significantly improved my success rate, especially with patients who have challenging access. Would love to hear what others are using and their experiences.
I’ve had great luck with a good lighting setup — often, just changing the angle of the light can make veins pop more clearly. > ‘Would love to hear what others are using and their experiences.’ Any thoughts on lighting tricks you’ve found effective?
I’ve found that using a warm compress can help dilate veins before the stick, especially in tricky cases. It’s like giving the veins a little wake-up call! Have you tried that along with the infrared finder?
Using a tourniquet a bit tighter can sometimes help, but you have to be careful not to occlude the vein too much. Have you tried varying the pressure or duration before your stick, @thomas_j67?
