I’m curious what syringes you all find most effective when dealing with tough veins. I had a patient yesterday who was a real challenge, and my usual go-tos didn’t cut it. Any recommendations for specific brands or sizes that have worked for you?
I’ve found that using butterfly needles can sometimes help with those tricky veins — they offer better control and stabilization for patients with smaller or difficult veins. Have you tried that method before?
When I face tough veins, I’ve had success with the 23-gauge syringes; they’re just enough to get a better flow without causing too much trauma. I also try to have the patient well-hydrated beforehand, which can make a difference. Have you considered that as part of your approach?
