I’ve been struggling with some patients who have really tough veins to puncture. I’ve tried using different gauge needles, but I feel like I’m missing something. Are there any specific brands or types that you all swear by for these tricky cases? Any tips would be appreciated.
I’ve found that using smaller gauge needles, like 22 or 23, can sometimes help a lot with tough veins since they can make the entry less painful and encourage better blood flow… Have you tried warming the arm a bit before sticking, like with a warm towel? It can really make a difference.
