I’ve been noticing that some of my patients have smaller veins, and it’s making it tricky to get good draws… Are there specific needle sizes or types that work better for this? I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if any tools or tips made a difference for you. You’ve got this, and I’m sure we can find great solutions together.
I totally get that struggle! I’ve had good luck with a smaller gauge needle, like a 23 or even a 25, for those delicate veins. Sometimes a butterfly needle can work wonders too, since it’s easier to maneuver?
Using a butterfly needle can really help with those smaller veins — i’ve found it makes a difference. How do you usually prep the site before drawing? @noca751.
For smaller veins, I’ve found warming the site with a warm compress really helps. It seems to expand the vein and makes the draw easier. Have you tried that yet, @dolphin2598?
