Switching our Zebra driver to ‘media type: synthetic’ and dropping darkness two clicks made the print set faster, so we stopped seeing smears during tube cleaning. If it’s still blotchy, reseal label rolls between shifts to keep humidity off the coating. Worked the same on our ZD421 and older GK420.
